The first thing I would do is look at their website, test the shopping experience and look at their other social media. I would then ask them questions about their business and find out if they had been successful on other advertising platforms. Sometimes the businesses had not had any sales yet from any platform and there are a few problems which need to be improved with the business itself. This could be anything from the website design to the product offering, pricing strategy or a hundred other variables! It doesn’t mean that a new business owner shouldn’t try Pinterest advertising but it just means that there are lots of other factors to consider as to why the ads aren’t converting. When I first started freelance Pinterest marketing, most of my clients were new entrepreneurs. It's a brand new business and the problem isn’t related to Pinterest ads.
